Our Philosophy: Professional Translators and Translations of the Highest Quality

Here at BigTranslation we are a translation agency par excellence, a reference in the sector. Our slogan is ‘swift translations by committed and native professionals’ and this claim is achieved through and backed by our Corporate Philosophy. As such, we would like to share with all of our team the five key underlying guiding principles of this philosophy, that help us to always stay at the top of our game and which form the basis of our day-to-day business and shape the way that our company’s processes our developed.

1. Deliver a service that we can always be proud of

This is why we only work with native language professionals and why we have all of our professional translators undertake our test translation before starting to work with us. We also then have every text checked over by our Validators to make sure that our projects are always of the very highest quality and we take great pride in doing everything in our capabilities to deliver on time 100 % of the time.

2. Make the process as easy as possible for both clients and translator

This is why we have created an almost fully automated platform as well as this support area for professional translators. Both endeavour to make the process of joining our team, carrying out translations and even invoicing us as easy as possible. For customers we also offer an automated process and customisable project options allowing them to get the exact service they need exactly when they need it.

3. Constantly seek to improve and innovate

We are very proud of our customer satisfaction rate and we receive excellent feedback from our team. However, we don’t like to rest on our laurels. We are committed to working constantly with our very capable and experienced IT team to make sure that our platform is as user friendly as possible. Likewise, we like to actively encourage our team of professional translators to continue to hone their skills by checking their validated texts, making note of any remarks and edited text. This is why we also offer informative post such on topics such as SEO translation, for the benefit of our professional translators.

4. Diversity makes us stronger

Our team is made up of professional translators with a multitude of different language combinations and specialisations. We like to be able to provide our services to clients from numerous sectors and locations, so we work with professional translators from all different backgrounds.  Our methodology and our automated platform provides not only flexibility to our freelancers but also allows us to offer a wide variety of services in numerous fields and languages, creating new market opportunities.

5. Communication is key

We try to keep our support area constantly updated with any new developments here at BigTranslation, we stay in close contact with our professional translators regarding available projects and we always aim to respond quickly and effectively to any queries about any aspect of the work. We also welcome any feedback from our team regarding any changes and love to receive suggestions to help us improve in the future.

Marijke van Veelen – Dutch translations

I have been a translator at BigTranslation for some time now, and recently became a validator as well. I like BigTranslation for their easy Dutch translations of products and for their flexibility: you can take work when you can, as much as you can.

Dutch Translations: Freelancer Marijke van Veelen

I have been a freelance translator English-Dutch since 2008.

dutch translationWhat’s great about carrying out Dutch translations as a freelancer?

What I like about Dutch translations is also the hard part of it: trying to find creative solutions to overcome the limitations of language. Translating is like solving a puzzle. Besides translating in different fields like toys, fashion, games, marketing and others, I also frequently work on reviewing texts, transcribing audio, and I have even done some subtitling for American and British shows being broadcast in the Netherlands. That is the second thing I like about translating: the diversity. As a Dutch translator, you never know what your day will bring when you wake up in the morning. But the good thing about being a freelancer is that you can easily structure your day yourself and take a break when you need to. Whatever happens, you are still in control.

What challenges do you face in your work?

The downside about being a freelance translator, besides the lack of colleagues, is the danger of overloading yourself with too much work or not getting enough work. For me, I tend to take on way too much work for one day and I find it hard to keep track on what I have to do during the day and when my deadlines are. But by watching the clock regularly, taking notes on what I have to do and when it has to be done, and not being afraid to turn down a job sometimes, I always make it and that makes me feel proud.
