I want to work with BigTranslation, how do I go about this, and what do I need?

If you want to work with BigTranslation, you will need to be registered as self-employed and up to date with your social security (tax) obligations. If you are not registered as self-employed, you must be able to demonstrate that you are not legally required to do so in the country where you are established.

As translators, we all love the beauty of words. However, there’s no denying that, in some cases, a video really is a pretty handy tool.

Here at BigTranslation, we know how important it is for translators to feel comfortable with the tools they use in their work. We also know how incredibly helpful it can be to see exactly how an interface works in video format.

That is why this video tutorial has been created, to help new translators orientate themselves with the BigTranslation translation platform. It explains the various steps to follow to find and translate texts in your language combination.

This online translation platform has been developed by a team of professional translators, working alongside knowledgable IT experts, to help the whole team to work more efficiently and to make the process as simple as possible for freelancers.

On our online platform, you will find all the projects and texts which are currently available and pending translation. This way, you will be able to select and carry out those translations which you feel are most compatible with your profile.

Our platform means that translators have the flexibility to manage their projects and time while, of course, bearing in mind the deadlines and other requirements of each translation.

Freelance Translators: Invoice Template for Translators from Outside the EU

Below you will be able to download a template of the invoice required from those translators registered as self-employed or as a company in non-EU countries (including the Canary Islands, Ceuta and Melilla). In the upper left-hand corner, you need to enter your personal details and then, in the row below, the corresponding invoice number as well as the date on which you are invoicing us.

In the concept, all you need to enter is the language or languages into which you have translated, the translation period (month and year) and the amount earned.

The next step is very important – you need to indicate your bank details in order for us to make the transfer.

Lastly, you need to enter the total again, as it is this last figure that BigTranslation will go by when paying into your account. Please do not forget to sign all invoices and clearly indicate your full name.

We recommend that you contact an administrative agency so that they can resolve any queries regarding the emission of these invoices as BigTranslation accepts no responsibility and/or claim if any error occurs with them.

Below you will be able to download a template of the invoice required from those translators registered as self-employed or as a company in mainland Spain and the Balearic Islands. In the upper left-hand corner, you need to enter your personal details and then, in the row below, the corresponding invoice number as well as the date on which you are invoicing us.

The next step is very important-you need to indicate your bank details in order for us to make the transfer.

Lastly, you need to enter the total again and apply the VAT and the Personal Infcome Tax withholdings. The final total will be the amount which BigTranslation will go by when paying into your account. Remember that if you are registered as self-employed in Spain or the Balearic Islands, you need to add 21 % VAT and the correct percentage of Personal Income Tax withholdings.

On the other hand, companies registered in Spain and the Balearic Islands only need to apply the 21 % VAT in their invoices.

Please do not forget to sign all invoices and clearly indicate your full name.

We recommend that you contact an administrative agency so that they can resolve any queries regarding the emission of these invoices as BigTranslation accepts no responsibility and/or claim if any error occurs with them (wrong bank details, IVA, PIT, etc.).

In the upper left-hand corner, you need to enter your personal details and then, in the row below, the corresponding invoice number as well as the date on which you are invoicing us.

This manuals covers everything from where to log in and what the interface should look like to the different sections and options available to you. Once you have logged in to the platform, you’ll have access to all the products, manuals and other projects pending translation in your target language.

It also explains how to assign yourself a translation and describes the various different elements of the texts that you will find on the platform. It will help you understand the formatting requirements and give you tips how to best go about translating using the platform.
